Tragedy
recently struck home here in the Valley.
A friend of mine, Deputy Anne Jackson was
shot and killed in the duty.
I met Anne several years ago when she started
out as Skagit County’s
Animal Control Officer.
She was bitten by the law enforcement bug and
decided to test for a deputy position.
She is the kind of person that you never
forget.
She always was willing to help with anything and
everything.
No task was beneath her.
On the same day that Anne was
shot and killed, another personal friend of mine was
also injured.
Trooper Troy Giddings was shot and injured as
the suspect drove past him.
Many of us have met Troy and know what a great
person he is.
I have spoken to him, and he assures me that
he will be at conference ready to teach us all that
we’ll ever want to know about junk vehicles.
A sign of a true professional.
